To see how we do this click here Video .Title: Benefits Manager #62916Location: San Rafael, CARole/Purpose:Responsible for planning, strategy development, and overall administration of U.S. employee benefit programs including health and welfare insurance plans, paid time off, wellness initiatives, HR stock administration and flexible spending accounts. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates communication and implementation of changes and open enrollment in benefits programs.
- Develops communication tools to assist employees in the use and understanding of available benefits and any proposed changes.
- Analyzes benefits policies & plans, and prevailing practices among similar organizations, to establish and ensure competitive benefits programs.
- Evaluates services, coverage, and options available through providers to determine programs that best meet the needs of the organization.
- Negotiates coverage, services and costs with carriers and brokers.
- Interacts with others in areas, such as the risk management, finance, legal, and procurement departments, to investigate programs (e.g., self-insurance) to determine feasibility in terms of cost, risk to the company, and legal implications.
- Trains management/staff personnel in FMLA/COBRA/benefit issues/legislative changes (ERISA, HIPAA, etc.) to ensure compliance.
- Prepares detailed statistical and analytical reports, presentations and recommendations as requested, including plan data, employee participation and eligibility data, and benefit cost trending.
- Is responsible for ensuring accuracy of premium calculations, accruals and deductions (also responsible for setting and changing deductions as necessary in the benefit system).
- Reconciles monthly premium reports with vendor invoices, and ensures timely and accurate payment.
- Integrates new employees into company benefit plans as a result of mergers and acquisitions.
- Recommends discontinuation of programs as appropriate and coordinates extension of existing programs in new areas.
- Manages communication and enrollment of participants in company benefits plans.
- Is responsible for management and development of staff (including remote workers, in different time zones). Fully responsible for selection, mentoring, coaching, performance management and assessment, and rewards and recognition of staff. Ensures proper performance management and rewards/recognition guidelines are followed within own team. Requirements:
- BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
- CBP or CEBS preferred.
- 8+ years of benefits management experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail.
- Analytical.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
