Job details: THQ Corporate is looking for a Senior Game Designer looking to bring a next generation fighting franchise to life on the Xbox360 and PS3. This position is located in Agoura Hills, CA.
Senior Game Designer Position Summary: Responsible for leading large portions of System Design for next generation sports/fighting game ensuring consistency of gameplay vision and foundational pillars as directed by Creative Director. Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to core systems such as Create A Fighter, Career Mode, Fighter AI, Online Multiplayer and extensive tuning for maximum fun.
Essential Job Functions:
• Crafts quality feature specifications and documentation for programmers and artists to execute on.
• Demonstrates a high level of creativity and innovation in computer and video game design.
• Effectively designs major game features with minimal direction, able to own large areas gameplay.
• Communicates designs clearly and consistently to other teams members and production partners.
• Keeps members of the development team in the communication loop as designs evolve.
• May be called upon to create, prioritize, and manage their own schedule.
• Ability to mentor and direct junior designers
• Maintains a working awareness of trends in the industry including gameplay, technology and concepts.
• Possesses a good understanding of competitive sport and fighting titles. Able to speak articulately about their strengths and weaknesses.
Requirements: Required Experience and Skills:
• 3 - 6 years of game design experience desired.
• Shipped at least two titles as designer or senior designer.
• Strong ability to create fresh, new designs or to enhance existing ones.
• Ability to evaluate existing and competitive products from the design perspective.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in large groups, including strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing and supervising direct reports is a plus.
• Excellent MS Word and Excel skills.
