3D Graphics Software Pricing

Hi Fellow Artists,

We are new to this forum. we currently use Poser, Daz, Carrara / Bryce and 3DS Max which of course Max is the most expensive of our software and that is because AutoDESK own it. We need a little help here to possibly understand some of pricing structures for 3D software.

We recently reviewed Cinema 4D from Maxon, but cannot understand how it can be priced at $3700, when something like poser is at $500.

We understand that Body Paint is included with the Maxon package, but just cannot see how they can price it at this high level.

We would just like one of you artists out there who is familiar with Cinema 4D as to explain what real advantages it has over the likes of Poser etc. It is more than 7 times the price.

From our evaluation there seemed to be very little that we cannot do in Poser.

Appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Ya $3,700 is way to much for Cinema 4d in my opinion.

I don't know what Poser can do beside characters?
Can you create custom 3d models in poser like a logo or a specific model of a car?
Can you animate and render particles in Poser? To create effects like liquid and fire?
Can you create photo-realistic rendering of reflections and refractions in Poser?
Can you render your poser scene with RenderMan?
Do you have nonlinear animation in Poser?
Sub polygonal displacement?

Here is the comparison of Cinema 4d versions starting with the cheapest
CINEMA 4D Prime, Release 12 which is $995.00
