Hi all,
I'm new into the world of 3d and need to make that all important first software purchase. I need to convert Solidworks CAD drawings into realistic stainless steel kitchen ovens/refrigerators etc.
I need something Apple Mac based and preferably under £1000 GBP.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated.
Cheers,
Phil.

If you want automated conversion of Solidworks 2D CAD drawings to 3d models, I don't know if something like this exists.
May be only in SolidWorks itself.
If you are going to create the 3d models yourself based on the drawings I can recommend:
Luxology Modo, here is a tour for their latest version:
You can also try Blender which is free and has really good 3d modeling and rendering tools.
There is also Cinema4d but it includes advanced animation tools as well, which will cost more and you don't need them.
