It is a model or object of something constructed in 3 dimensions, width, height, and depth(hence 3D) Or think of it this way, assume a piece of flat copy paper has no thickness, just 8 1/2" wide & 11" long (2D) , now fold it and create a 3D paper airplane that has 3 dimensions, (width, height & depth)
