Simple 3D animation software that looks good.

i am a beginner with 3D software, and by that i mean i have tried and failed many times. I would like to know, is there a software that lets you Animate in 3D, that is simple and looks good. By good i mean not too cartoony.

I use 3DSmax and Messiah Studio. Technically preparing models for animation is harder than animation but creating good looking animation takes time and needs some intuition, powers of observation and knowledge about what makes characters look more realistic.

If you are a student you can get a 3 year trial of Maya from the autodesk website. It's a great option! Although Maya isn't exactly simple...
