Hash Animation Master Program

I have a Hash Animation Master program I was unable to use. I have a Mac now and want to upgrade the program and finally learn it. I know Maya seems to be the industry standard. I hope to work my way into animation in the future. I've been an inker in the comics for many years. If I am going to shift gears into another part of the industry I don't want to spend time learning a program nobody uses. Just now I don't have $3,500 for Maya and the upgrade is for Hash is $99. Question is, am I wasting my time on Hash? Is there any alternative program I might try that might be more main stream? Thanks all
