Hi there, I'm new to 3D modelling. I have recently picked up UDK and have begun practising with that. I have now wanted to also delve into creating my own static meshes. My first big project is to recreate Deckard's apartment from Blade Runner.
To do this I've been wanting to create the famous wall tiles in a custom 3D mesh to place around the columns.
I have got both Maya and 3DS Max but seem to find making what seemed such a simple design into a 3D mesh, really annoying.
I have began by creating a 1024x1024x100 square and converting it into an editable polygon. I've then began dragging down vertices in order to create the dips and raises as seen on the wall tiles. My problem is, the dips tends to curve giving the entire pattern a smooth look on the edges where it should be 90 degree corners and straight edges.
As the design is so seemingly simply, is there a program or a way in Maya/3DS to form the shape I'm looking for?
These are the wall tiles I'm looking to recreate as a static mesh.
Thanks alot .
