This story sounds amusing. Your proposal is indeed a sound business idea, but for the 3d modeler not for the 3D studio.

I have personally done work like this , where I modeled something cheaper but with none exclusive rights so that I could later publish models on sites like The 3d Studio.

It is possible that The 3D Studio privacy policy doesn't allow them to share user contacts with third party.
